  • Notes
    • When married, her family had moved to Fort Madison, Iowa Territory. Mariah's
ancestry is traced to George Aldrich who sailed from England with Gov.
Winthrop's fleet in 1639 to establish the Massachusetts Colony, earning passage
as an indentured servant (6 years).

About 1852 Mariah moved from Wheeling, Ill. with her children to Reedy Creek, a
town near Elizabeth, Wirt County, West Virginia (then Va.) to be near her
sister Delilah (Aldrich) Daggett who had moved there from Fort Madison, Iowa in
      1848.

Mariah died Nov. 21, 1866 at age 51 and was buried in Dr. Thaw's farm graveyard
on Lost Pavement Road (off Rt. 14) south of Parkersburg, W. Va.
